Recurring: Introduction Fellowship
In this 6 week program you will learn about the most principles and most important ideas of Effective Altruism. Together we will explore how we can apply a more scientific mindset towards doing good and how we can have the most positive impact in the world. After this fellowship you are perfectly set up to join Effective Altruism Delft and enjoy our many events and opportunities.
The fellowship is 6 weeks long. Each week you will prepare for 1.5 hours and then have a 1.5 hour discussion in your group (3-6 people) in which you discuss the things that YOU found interesting in the preparation. We hope to see you soon!

Week 3: How can we most effectively improve the health and well-being of the people most in need?

Next Wednesday we'll come together for a cozy movie evening and watch "HER". This visually stunning love story imagines a future where humans form social relationships with AI Systems and asks deep questions about how AI will influence our society and personal lives, AI consciousness and the nature of love.

Who will win in the next elections, or how will the price of electricity change in the next month? 💭 These might seem like questions that are almost impossible to predict consistently. However, by using different forecasting techniques, it is possible to predict future events better than the so-called experts do. 🌍

Join our lunch lecture on Wednesday, November 22! Our guests from ActivityInfo will be talking about the relationship between effective altruism and international aid:
How can we measure our impact, and more importantly, how can we increase it?
How can we choose the most effective interventions and how does humanitarian aid compare to international development assistance, which aims to address the root causes of poverty, famine, and conflict?
We’ll take a look at two main approaches: logical frameworks and theories of change.
Finally, we’ll briefly learn about ActivityInfo, a social enterprise based in the Hague that develops software for helping the UN and NGOs manage the data they need to answer important questions related to effectiveness.
